Dear Lorraine,

We wanted to write just as soon as we could, and not to wait until sadly we have to leave.

We are bowled over by your lovely cottage and wanted to say that the experience started on coming into the small sitting room and reading your notes,which I have to say slightly strained my elderly eyesight but with a magnifying glass on the telephone I managed it!

The notes were so nice and so welcoming and the bits about dogs so extraordinarily well and generously expressed, that from that moment on, we were walking on air.

We’ve got the impression everywhere of your thoughtfulness, care and attention to detail, it really is quite remarkable and so very enjoyable to experience for us. 

We most certainly wanted you to know that we’ve enjoyed using the log burner, which is brilliant in every respect, but have avoided using the other stove to save on cleaning up work, which in a cottage as beautiful as this, is going to be slightly daunting. We do tidy up to the highest possible standards, and will make sure that when you come in, it doesn’t look as if we’ve even been here, but I do have to say that the definition of Immaculate is coined by you!

We’ve enjoyed doing a little bit of cooking, but nothing big as we’ve kept the catering operation over in No 9 across the common, again in order to avoid the clearing up phase being too exciting.

We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful supply of hot water and the comfortable bath, with thoughtful shampoos etc, and the general cosy feeling of the whole cottage.  

To put Christmas decorations in, and that beautiful snow coloured silver tree with lights, left us quite speechless with gratitude.

Well that’s probably about it for now, except that I’m most grateful that there is a good Bannister on the stairs for as a blue badge holder who is pretty immobile and disabled, going up and down is something that I need to plan carefully for in advance.

Bea has thoroughly enjoyed staying in all the various facilities that were mapped out for her here, and again your thoughtfulness shines out everywhere.

We are going to plan to go home at the weekend, but we’re not quite certain whether that is to be on Saturday or Sunday yet, as we now have a house viewing on Saturday very nearby at green Fern, just behind Avening,

Please let us join in any ‘recommendations’ paperwork. We might even make it back again as the arrangement works perfectly with no 9!
